Flash Cuff
A Vanguard favourite, we add a small piece of lining inside the cuff. Rarely seen but a lovely detail. |
One Contrast buttonhole
A subtle touch and very popular, we make one of the buttonholes (normally the last) in the same colour as the lining. |
Two Contrast buttonholes
For a more noticeable contrast we can make the bottom two buttonholes in contrast, normally to match your lining. |
Contrast button
We can dye our buttons to match any colour. Why not make just one button the same colour as the lining? |
Contrast lapel buttonhole
We can also make the lapel buttonhole in the same colour. Just be wary of this for suits rather than jackets as it can limit your choice of shirt/tie/pocket squares. |
Double lapel buttonhole
A little ostentatious, especially this one in contrast, with a contrasting collar. We can make the buttonhole colour matching for a little more subtlety. |
Lapel buttonhole matching check
A nice option for patterned fabrics, pulling out the contrasting colour of the pattern to add a little flash. |
Hand stitched lapels matching lining
For a statement jacket we can hand stitch the edges of the lapels, pockets and seams in a contrasting colour. |
Piped contrasting edging
For a statement jacket formal or casual this can look great with the right combination of colours, either high contrast or tonal works best. |
Contrasting under collar melton
A rarely seen detail, we have over 50 colours of under collar meltons & can match a melton to every one of our linings. |
Velvet Collar
Our range of super soft cotton velvets can add a refined elegance to a casual blazer. Also a nice way to frame the face with a colour that compliments skin tone. |
Matching elbow patches
More subtle than suede/leather patches (which we can also do!) these add a nice touch for a casual blazer & work really well on check patterns. |
Collar Extension
A nice detail for summer blazers & casual blazers the collar extension use to serve a function. But with higher lapel lines of modern times it's pure styling now. |
Collar Tab
The collar tab functions to fasten a jacket around the neck and is removable. A nice detail on winter blazers or coats in case you forget your scarf. |
Italian Waistband
A modern take on the gurkha waistband made popular in Naples this is a smart & very dapper detail for a chino or even shorts. |
Oxford bags waistband
Named after the famous British wide leg trouser this wider waistband works well with pleated fronts and a wider leg. Add in the flapped coin pocket; perfection! |
Half lined jacket
The perfect choice for a lighter more breathable blazer. This goes hand in hand with a softer less structured silhouette. |
Contrast inner pockets & hand stitching
Add a little flair to the inside of your jacket while still remaining conservative. Make just the pockets & hand stitched lining edges in a contrast. |
Contrast piping & inner pockets
A beautiful curved piano facing is set off with a contrast piping. A great way to frame a printed lining or add a splash of another colour inside your jacket. |
Contrast piping, inner pockets & sleeves
Can't decide which lining to have in your suit? Why not take 2. Add the other lining to the sleeve along with the pockets & piping. |
Shoulders
There are many variations of jacket shoulder structure, which for the uninitiated can be daunting.
The Vanguard standard - Balanced
Employing soft structure we create a shoulder line that compliments. Using light padding of the finest quality, our natural shoulder gives you the perfect balance of minimal structure to define the shoulders just enough. This works for every type of jacket & body shape. |
The alternate variations on shoulder structure are all possible at Vanguard Bespoke. Below are the main 4 four shoulder types, which we craft beautifully.
Modern British
The British standard is a structured, defined shoulder. Our modern take on this uses medium padding with the slightest rope on the shoulder head. This gives you a comfortably defined shoulder line. |
Roped
The roped shoulder head is a beauty but not for the fainthearted. Employing more definition on the head of the sleeve this can be used to balance narrow shoulders and pear shapes to give balance to your frame. |
Neapolitan
The traditional Italian shoulder, tailoring connoisseurs either love it or hate it. A more defined shoulder is created with minuscule pleats at the shoulder head. A nice option for a casual jacket to really show off your bespoke credentials. |
Unstructured
Increasingly popular, the unstructured shoulder takes away all padding inside. Cut a little more sloped to follow the line of shoulder it literally hangs off your shoulders. An option for informal blazers; just be aware without structure creasing around shoulders is inevitable. |
